Process for
Successful Design

Listen to define
What is the design problem? How will we know when it is solved? Are there other factors outside of design that impact these results?

Explore to discover
Learn as much, as specific to this design problem, as possible. How can we experience the viewer's perspective?

Look past appearances
We tend to see with the minds eye. These pre-formed Platonic images influence what is being viewed. These preconceived ideas are different depending upon the viewer. How do objects appear to their intended audience? Are these different from the client or the designer? Detach from what you think you see from what others see. What do the components relevant to solving the problem look like? What is the visual language? Strive to go beyond the obvious.

Read the impressions
How are these visual objects read? Do other end-users have the same impression? What about culture, age, and other demographic factors?

Evaluate progress
Stop and assess where we are in the problem solving timeline. What is working, what needs to be readdressed? What is missing?

Recalibrate to zero in
on final solution
Follow this cycle to hone in on the final solution. Good results require patience, time, and hard work.
